Too Much Help

I am still working away on my French General project.  The pattern is called "Cribbage" from Monique Dillard's book Fat Quarter Winners.
I just love the patterns in this book and the directions are very well done.  The blocks were fun to sew and I am happy to be using this hoarded bundle of French General fabrics at long last.

After finishing both sets of alternating blocks, I started laying the quilt out on my "design floor" in the kitchen.

So far so good.  There are 140 blocks in the quilt so I decided to sew rows together as I went along instead of laying out the entire quilt and waiting for......

one of my four "quilting assistants" to happen along and the blocks to scatter all over the kitchen.

REMY:  "I'm just going to rearrange this into a vertical layout for you"

"I want to be the Moda spokescat.  Every color goes great with my fur."
"I think your 1/4" seam is a little off here"
It took twice as long to get to this point as it should have but here is the quilt about half way done.

If Remy lets me, I hope to get this one completed soon.

I have several other projects lined up including the American Patchwork & Quilting "Go Four It" quilt along.

I have my fabrics chosen and picked out this pattern.
I just need to start cutting and sewing.

This month's Another Year of Schnibbles pattern is calling to me as is the Stars in a Time Warp block of the Week so the fabric will be flying around the house this month.  Hope everyone is surviving winter and planning as many new projects as I am!

I'll be eager to watch your Rainbow Rows come together. I still love French General Fabric but haven't bought in any ages, for two years that's all I used, it may be time to make another FG quilt, I love yours. And yes, Monique's patterns are wonderful, as is she.

Isn't it nice to finally find a pattern so that you can use those special fabrics. Remy means well I guess - at least he's interested! The APQ project is huge - so many people have fallen for the idea. I'm sure yours will be absolutely delightful.

Oh Gretchen, what a fun and happy post! You and Remy have started my day off with a smile and better than that, a really wonderful laugh. I haven't been able to do any sewing yet since we got Prissy...oh, excuse me, "her Royal Highness" Miss Prissy, but I'm hopeful she will keep me company in the sewing room along with giving me some nuggets of wisdom like those Remy imparted to you about your quilt layout (which I meant to tell you is going to be a beautiful quilt.) Anyway, thanks so very much for a delightful start to my day. And please tell Remy that if they choose a "Spokecat for Moda", he gets my vote...afterall, his fur truly does go with virtually any color of fabric and black is ever so fashionable. Big hugs to you and scratches and loves all around to the furry kids :o)

What a beautiful quilt you are making! It's been too long since I worked with French General fabric or Monique's designs. I need to rectify both of those issues!

There's something about French General fabrics that is just impossible to resist! That quilt is going to be fantastic.
Love your quilting assistant - he's right, every colour is perfect for him. :-)

Oh yes I have quilt assistants also...so "helpful" aren't they? Love your FG quilt!!! Trying to do 2 blocks a week for the BB Time warp stars. I also love the 4 Patch quilts...so many quilts, so little time.
