Schnibble for July's Parade

I was overjoyed that "Lincoln" was chosen as this month's project for Another Year of Schnibbles project because....

I already made mine way back in spring 2010.  I used Moda's "Verna" fabric line by Kate Spain and this started my Kate Spain I-love-all-her-fabric-and-her-cute-kitties fan-girl-ness.

Here is optimistic original post that said I would have it all quilted and bound by the weekend following April 3rd 2010....
April 3, 2010

and here it is today....

Ummmm... not quilted and bound and a rather bad photo since it is overcast & dark in my house today.

I think I remember seeing the backing fabric for this so I need to dig that out and hopefully it won't be another year (let alone three!) that this Schnibble will be done.

You can see all the great Lincoln projects on Sherri and Sinta's blogs.

I can't wait to see what the new project is for August.

Well at least you have a Lincoln for the parade, even if it's not quilt and bound. That pattern has been on my To Do list for ages, I was so excited it was the July pattern, and then I didn't get to it. Where did July go? I love your version, it looks as fresh and pretty today as it did the day you finished it!

Hi Gretchen! Boy, I have missed you and a the furry kids...I was hit with some horrible stomach bug about a month ago, and though I have commented a little bit here and there, I've pretty much avoided the computer, except absolutely necessary stuff and also avoided the sewing room. So sad that the first two months of this years Mystery Designer BOM are just sitting on my cutting table, not yet opened...I hear them crying softly at night, poor things. I did get to spend about four hours in my sewing room today, for the first time in over a month and really enjoyed just a little mindless chain stitching on some of the 2000+ 2 1/2" squares I have here for a totally scrappy charm quilt. Nothing but the 2 1/2 " squares, a madhouse of colors and prints...but when these quilts are finished with a nice border that is near solid or tone on tone, they turn out beautifully, and very, very big,LOL. Like, King sized bedspread big. It was a really relaxing 4 hours, but I was exhausted after I cleaned up my work area and readied it for my next sewing day. Anyway, I digress...badly,lol, sorry about that. REally just wanted to tell you that I love the Kate Spain quilt, great fabric collection. Hope you can find that backing, I can't wait to see it finished up! Big Hugs coming to you and of course lots of scratches and rubs to the furry ones, extras for that handsome devil "you know who", *wink* ... ah what the heck, extras for all of them, I've been away a while, I think... can't remember, LOL. More hugs, hoping all is great and wonderful for you and yours. :o)

Beautiful! Just beautiful! You are lucky to have used Verna! I missed that Kate Spain line, but I think I've made up for it by getting every one of her lines since LOL. Your quilt makes me sorry I missed it :-) I've got a FEW quilts I've been meaning to quilt also.........

I too like Kate Spain fabric. Who knows - one day I might actually sew the layer cake that's languishing in the cupboard! At least you have a quilt from yours and it's a lovely one.
