Bits and Pieces

It's been a busy Sunday with working at Starbucks, wishing Happy Father's Day to my dad, and grocery shopping for the week.  Now I need to get a few chores done and get ready for another week.

I was so excited to get the first block and the finishing kit in the mail for the 2012 Designer Mystery Block of the Month from Fat Quarter Shop

The Moda Vintage Modern fabrics are to die for--gorgeous saturated colors. YUM!

First block is done.

Next up is my first finished block for this month's Schnibble--the brand new pattern called Leap Year.  I just love 16-patch blocks. I love them better than 9-patches; don't know why.  I am using 2 charm packs of Little Apples fabrics. Cutemous!!!!!!  Look at the little fussy-cut squirrels. Adorable.
In another (ahem) package from Fat Quarter Shop this week came a fat quarter bundle of Lily Belle by Bari J. in the cool color way for the Hexy Quilt Along on the Fat Quarterly blog.   The manufacturer is Art Gallery Fabrics and the silky hand of the fabric is just wonderful.   Beautiful fabrics that computer screens don't do justice too. You need to see in person.  It is nearly too pretty to cut up.

Gretchen, your BOM block is Wonderful, I absolutely love Vintage Modern, and though I planned on joining in the fun, I decided that it wouldn't be financially wise just now *sigh*...SO!!! I figure I will live it vicariously through yours...huh? That okay with you? That of course means a commitment to keep up with them ya know, LOL. *wink* I'm just kidding about that part as I know that I fall behind in BOM's that are not classroom structured, like so many of us. BUT, I do think I will follow along with you and just pretend I'm part of the fun, (if you don't mind that is) Ummm...better get Remmy and Stella's and all the other furry babes approval to eh? OH, I'm just so tempted to join, but we have family members that need a little financial help with some of their bills, so they trump my quilting wants. Ah well, maybe later, LOL. Wishing a happy fathers day to all you great guys. Big hugs and scratches all around tot he furry babes. Please ignore my misspellings and poor grammar, I have been in bed fighting...well, I don't know what, maybe a flare up on my Scleroderma, not sure and I'm headed back to bed now.

Your BOM is very pretty. I was actually thinking about signing up for that one but have never worked on a BOM with FQS - thoughts? Need to go see if they have any left, might be too late!

Love your block of the month. I thought about it, but glad I resisted, I have too much other stuff going on.
