February Snow in Atlanta

I'm sure everyone in the Mid-Atlantic is sick of seeing snow, but here in Georgia, we were feeling left out of the fun. I was so excited to hear that it was supposed to snow on Friday and snow it did,

arriving fashionably late around 1:00PM instead of 11:00AM as forecasted. The snow was heavy, wet flakes that stuck to the trees and grass and eventually the roads. The sky was dull gray, a real snow-day sky.

It snowed so much for such a long period of time that Starbucks closed early, 7:30PM instead of 11:00PM, and I only worked a couple of hours. And yes, we all did a "Snow Day at Starbucks" dance for that one. I was so grateful for S. who drove me to and from Starbucks so I didn't have to deal with crazy drivers on the roads (people in Atlanta drive horribly in dry, clear weather let alone rain and especially let alone snow!)

Of course any snowstorm in Georgia is well photo-documented by just about everyone with any kind of camera. I even went out at night to take photos of the falling snow

(I have about 50-11 more photos but will spare y'all...)

This was a fabulous "snow event" for Atlanta. We had 4 inches of snow, 4 inches!!!! and frozen icy roads by the evening. People who were smart, and could, went home and stayed home.

Of course as soon as I woke up, I grabbed the camera to get more photos before it melted. It was in the low 20s F in the morning so everything stayed frozen.
The morning's entertainment included listening to cars sliding around on the road and watching the birds. The cats mostly slept, as usual...

The sun is shining brightly now and the roads are clearing up. Snow days are rare and brief here in Georgia but are immensely fun no matter how old you are, especially if you get to stay home and enjoy them.

I love this photo taken at 8:00 AM this morning. Happy Snow Day!

Wow...great pictures. I'm feeling a little left out of the snowpocolypse too, we've had hardly anything this year in Idaho.

Lovely photographs -- but I can't get over that you had more snow on the ground there than we do!!

The snow was fun, especially from the warm inside of my home with my cup of coffee! The Munchkins had a blast!
