Blogger's Quilt Festival: Fall 2013

I'll just jump back into blogging again with my entry for the super funtabulous Blogger's Quilt Festival.

I am so happy that I have a quilt that I actually finished during this busier-than-usual year and even happier that it was a gift for my cutemous new baby nephew Cameron, who was born on February 2nd.

The pattern is "Alphablocks" by American Jane and the fabrics are Moda Bella solids and a mix of older American Jane lines. I machine appliquéd and machine quilted it myself.  Here is the original post from February.

I am entering this in the baby quilt section of the contest.  You can check it out there along with lots of other great quilts.

Bloggers' Quilt Festival Fall 2011

It's time for the Bloggers' Quilt Festival again.  I am so happy that Amy started this fun and inspiring tradition.

I decided to pick my Eventide quilt  that I finished in April for the festival for a number of reasons:
1.  I haven't finished many quilts or quilt tops this year (it's been a rough year on too many fronts to revisit)
2.  I absolutely ADORE this quilt pattern by Miss Rosie's Quilt Company
3.  I absolutely ADORE the fabric by Fig Tree Quilts and am so happy to have found a super wonderful project for it.  This is an older line called Fig & Plum and I was hoarding it for just the right project.
4.  This was an online quilt along hosted by Thelma of Cupcakes 'n Daisies.  Thelma is an extremely talented quilter, wonderful blogger, and just all around fabulous person.  If you haven't visited her blog, go take a look and be prepared to be in awe.  Make sure you are sitting down when you see her Red and White Tribute Quilt because you will be blown away.  I'm hoping Thelma will host another quilt along at some point because it really was a ton of fun.
5.  Did I mention that this has been a rough year?  April and the Eventide Quilt Along was the last time before the rest of this year spiraled into chaos.  Let's just hope for a boring rest of the year and a better 2012.
6.  I really just love this quilt and need to get it to the long-arm quilter before the weather gets much colder.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog!

Blogger's Quilt Festival Fall 2010

My favorite quilt at the moment is, of course, the one I recently finished.  I loved this fabric line "A Morris Workshop" by Barbara Brackman for Moda when it arrived a couple of years ago.  The Arts and Crafts movement in architecture and decorative arts is a favorite of mine. I chose the pattern of large blocks so the piecing wouldn't compete with the busy prints.

It is a queen-size bed quilt so I had to put it up on the fence outside to photograph it.

Here is a view of the back of the quilt. I pieced together all the remaining pieces from the fat quarter bundle to make this scrappy back.

quilting detail.  Long-arm quilting by Peggy Barkle.
This quilt was a challenge because it was so big and by piecing the back it was like making two huge quilts!
Big thanks for Amy for this wonderful on-line quilt show!

Blogger's Quilt Festival Fall 2009

A big thank you to Amy at Park City Girl for hosting another Quilt Festival! I think I'll set aside a couple of hours (!!!) to check out everyone's posts. It's hard to pick a one quilt for this post (mainly because I have a huge amount of finished tops but less finished quilted quilts....I'm sure I am alone in this problem right? ahem....).

Here is the quilt that lives on my bed in the fall and the quilt I picked for this festival. (the lump under this quilt is one of my four cats... quilt helpers all)
I love the deep, rich, fall-y colors in this fabric line called "Vintage Reserve" by Minick & Simpson for Moda fabrics. I adore Minick & Simpson fabrics, every line they have done.
A detail and the back with some leftover blocks
The pattern is by my dear friend, quilt teacher, and mentor Pat of Silver Thimble Quilt Co. and is called "Strawberry Pie". Pat is one of the most fun, caring, creative, kind people I know and she has helped me learn so much about quilting and life and friendship. I thought it was appropriate to highlight one of Pat's designs for this post because I was so lucky and got to be Pat's helper/go-fer/booth attendant/girl Friday at the 2007 fall quilt market in Houston. It was a great experience and I am so thankful for that opportunity.

Quilt Bloggers Quilt Festival

Have you seen the fun (and popular!) virtual quilt show set up by Park City Girl? You are supposed to pick your favorite quilt and write a story about it, then add it to the quilt show. It's really hard to pick a favorite quilt because I like them all for different reasons. This is one of my current recent favorites (how's that?) Maybe because it's completely finished???!!! I love Moda fabric and this is a fabulous line called Roman Holiday. I especially love the blue border fabric with the big reddish flowers. This quilt also reminds me of my favorite quilt shop Sweet Home Quilt Co. because I found the fabric there and then had to find a project for it.

So without further ado, click on over to Park City Girl and check out the more than 300 more entries in the Bloggers Quilt Festival and be sure to add your favorite quilt!
